Honoring Your Mother & Father

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
“Honor your father and mother”
—which is the first commandment with a promise—
“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

                                                                Ephesians 6 v. 1

God's Word is a beautiful thing when we choose to obey. Ephesians 6 v. 1 is one of God's commandments that comes with two promises. It also states that it is the first commandment that comes with a promise.

God tells us that when we honor our parents things will not only go well for us, but that we will live a long life. Might we learn to take God at His Word, believe what He says, and obey it.

There are many ways to honor your parents, but first you must choose to make the decision to do so. Once that choice is made, it is half the battle. Then it would be so easy to find ways to honor them.

Decide today to honor God and your parents, as you continue in this journey of being an "Apostable".

Therefore, as God’s chosen people,

holy and

dearly loved,

clothe yourselves

with compassion,

kindness,

humility,

gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3 v. 12

What Happened To Kindness?
Written by Karen Blanc

What in the world has happened to brotherly kindness?

Overall, it is not a kinder world today, but we can do our part to help change that.

Patience goes a long way in keeping interactions civil.

We all get annoyed at different times for various reasons. For example, the person ahead of you at a grocery store has 15 coupons that need to be input into the cash register. Ugh! We can feel annoyed by the kind of music playing or someone too chatty holding up the line.

We may not like someone, so we diss them. We feel uncomfortable around handicapped people, physically or mentally, so we make fun of them.

How can we help this global problem?

  • First of all, put a smile on your face.

  • Be welcoming to someone new at school, church, sports, etc.

  • Serve other people first.

  • Take the smaller piece of pie.

  • Reach out to someone sitting alone.

  • Introduce yourself to a new person in your class.

Kindness calls for an intentional change of behavior.

  • From aloofness to welcoming.

  • From anger to tolerance.

  • From gossip to encouragement

     Proverbs 15:1 (MSG)

A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper fire.

After all, Kindness is not just a sweet attitude, a philosophy, or a warm, fuzzy feeling to make you feel good. It is a selfless love for others.

So, Be kind to one another, have a tender heart, and forgive each other as Jesus has forgiven you.

Throw Kindness around like fairy dust. It will be a better world.

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few things;
I will put you in charge of many things.
Come and share your master’s happiness!

Matthew  25 v. 23

Want A Miracle?

Be A Miracle!

Picture1.jpg

Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in
his own home.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith..
